Welcome to my garden! Since it’s presently winter in my part of the world, my garden is in its planning stages. The paper roses I make right now signify my Etsy shop… www.etsy.com/shop/abridaltouch. I make bouquets and boutonnieres from many types of paper ranging from music, atlas, comic books and book paper. Nothing made of paper is safe! My husband is a musician and he still finds it difficult that I cut up music to make flowers!
I love to craft and have always loved to make things…sewing, quilting, knitting, crocheting, doll making and doll repair, embroidery, porcelain doll making, black and white darkroom, calligraphy, painting, mixed media, woodburning…..I’ve probably tried most crafts and if not, it’s usually on my list.
I’m known for always learning new things and trying something new. My blog will be filled with odds and ends and I hope you will join me in my adventures.
The following poem of “After A While” expresses the thoughts behind my paper rose garden just beautifully…with this blog, I am “planting my own garden and decorating my own soul”.
After a while, you learn the subtle difference Between holding a hand and chaining a soul.
And you learn that love doesn’t mean leaning And company doesn’t mean security.
And you begin to learn that kisses aren’t contracts And presents aren’t promises.
And you begin to accept your defeats With your head up and your eyes open
With the grace of a woman, not the grief of a child.
And you learn to build all your roads on today, Because tomorrow’s ground is too uncertain for plans.
And futures have a way of falling down in mid-flight.
After a while, you learn That even sunshine burns if you get too much.
So you plant your own garden and decorate your own soul instead of waiting for someone to bring you flowers.
And you learn that you really can endure…That you really are strong and you really do have worth.
And you learn and learn…with every goodbye, you learn.
Until next time…
